In October 2015 Dramakinetics received a grant from The Charles H. Dater Foundation for the Creative Classroom program! Their support allowed us to take this program to St. Williams Elementary for a ten week residency.
The DK class at St. Williams worked with 220 students grades k-8 and used the performing arts to teach reading and social-emotional skills. For ten weeks DK worked alongside the classroom teachers to use skits that teach the students about having good character and reading comprehension. At the end of the ten weeks the school was able to hold a day of performances that allowed each class to present their show and watch the other classes do theirs. This exciting program could not have happened without the support of The Charles H. Dater Foundation or the flexibility of St. Williams staff and students.
